About Us
We turn residual biomass into soil products that are formulated, manufactured, and scientifically validated.
Why We Exist
Every year, industries across Alberta generate large volumes of organic and mineral residuals. Pulp mills, sawmills, livestock operations and biomass facilities produce materials that are rich in organic matter, carbon and plant nutrients. Most of it is handled as something to be disposed of, at a cost, year after year.
At the same time, farmers face declining soil organic matter, rising input costs and growing pressure to farm more sustainably. Forestry operations need materials that support regeneration on harvested and disturbed sites. Mine reclamation, pipeline corridors and energy developments across Alberta require amendments that rebuild soil where it has been stripped away or degraded.
These are not two separate problems. They are the answer to each other. Organic Soil Conditioner Solutions Ltd. was built to turn that answer into practical solutions
Our Mission
Enable more productive, resilient and sustainable land through innovative products derived from renewable biomasses.
Meet The Team
OSCS was founded in 2022. The company brings together four complementary areas of expertise: agricultural and industrial operations, soil science and research, business development, and regulatory affairs.
Marcel Mailloux
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Marcel Mailloux brings more than 35 years of experience in heavy industry to OSCS, which he leads. He has built two companies, including a welding company, and has worked internationally, overseeing large projects such as oil and gas pipelines. A former dairy farmer, he started OSCS to leave better land for his family and friends. With Suzanne, he drives innovation; with Randy, he connects OSCS to local industries and communities.
Randy Hodgkinson
Business Development & Financing
Randy Hodgkinson brings more than 30 years of experience in business development to OSCS, where he leads growth, financing and partnerships. He has run his own company and, as former General Manager of Community Futures Peace Country, led economic development and advised business owners across the region for many years. With Marcel, he connects OSCS to northern Alberta's business community; with Simon, he keeps the company grounded in what works.
Suzanne Allaire, Ph.D.
Research & Development
Suzanne Allaire brings more than 30 years of experience in soil and environmental science to OSCS. For 16 years, she has designed products from residual biomass, including biochar, for clients in 30 countries. She founded and leads GECA Environnement and SustanAllaire, and was a full professor at Université Laval for 18 years, directing research on pyrolysis and soil physics. With Marcel, she drives innovation; with Simon, she leads the science.
Simon-Mark Lefrançois, M.Sc.
Regulatory Affairs & Certification
Simon-Mark Lefrançois brings more than 25 years of environmental compliance experience to OSCS, where he guides products through CFIA requirements and provincial approvals for land application. He holds an M.Sc. in Environment and Management and has worked in mining and heavy construction. He built and ran a federally regulated production facility, including its sanitation, labelling and traceability systems. With Suzanne, he covers the science; with Randy, he keeps plans practical.
Our Network
OSCS has not attempted to build every capability in-house. Instead, the company has assembled a network of research institutions, technical laboratories, advisors and specialists across Alberta and beyond, whose combined expertise exceeds what any single organization could offer. This approach reduces technical risk, provides independent verification of our results, and keeps our development work grounded in credible science
